On a frigid, blustery night in February of 2008, we returned to the infamous “Cornfield
House” with a handful of investigators. This investigation was considerably smaller than the
original visit as we were going to concentrate our efforts in the areas that had proven to be
hot spots during the last investigation.

After everyone had arrived some time after 9:00 p.m. we began the process of deciding how
to proceed. The home owners had agreed to let us stay at the house all night and as they
had gone out to stay elsewhere. That evening the icy wind blew in strong gusts across the
desolate fields surrounding the house while we wandered around outside the home taking
many digital pictures. Most of the pictures were very dark and none showed any anomalous
images.  We then gathered at our command center, took some base line readings inside the
house, gathered up cameras and voice recorders and began our vigils in the rooms that
had previously yielded good evp results for one hour rotations. In addition to the bedrooms
in the house, we also investigated the room over the garage where we were able to capture
an unexplainable image which appeared in the window the last time we investigated the
property. (It should be noted that during the first investigation of the home, there was a large
bureau in front of the door and we did not have access to the room.)

During the one hour vigils, we were able to debunk reports of noises by the homeowners.
There had been reports of a knocking in the boys’ closet/ storage area. Thankfully, due to
the extreme wind conditions, we were able to attribute this noise to a loose window screen in
between closets on the front of the house. We captured nothing odd in any of the
photographs in the room.

Downstairs, a scratching noise was traced back to a loose piece of siding which could be
clearly heard in the master bedroom.  There were no pictures captured that showed any
strange images.

Upstairs in the room over the garage, we did note considerable temperature drops during
the different rotation of teams after about 30 minutes. There could be many reasons for the
cooler air, such the winter wind itself as well as the location of the room, so this had to be
discounted as evidence. It should also be noted that the room had been sealed up until the
evening of our investigation due to the same large bureau being in front of the door. Upon
entering the room it was clear that the room had been used for storage. There were various
chairs and sports equipment scattered about so that any access to the window from the
inside of the room was nearly impossible without moving objects or falling over them.

After several more rotations and a trouble-shooting session in the center of the house due
to an acoustical problem, we decided to call it a night. Although there weren’t any personal
experiences, we were hopeful for more evp results since we were so fortunate during the
last investigation and our most recent photos didn’t reveal anything out of the ordinary.

Later, review would reveal a woman’s voice this time instead of a man’s which only adds to
the mystery. Where was the talkative male that was so obviously agitated the last time we
were there? Is the house truly haunted? The jury is still out on this one folks.

We plan to go back again due to recent events concerning an individual with no prior
knowledge of the incidents inside encountering a dark shadow sitting outside in a porch
rocking chair.
